Testing

Aunt Flo arrived on time, Dec28th - exactly a 29 day cycle. This would mark the 3rd month in a row, which is unusual. Hey what do you know, no breast tenderness or soreness. Yay!!! That was also a painful sign that Aunt Flo is near. Anyway, even though she was on time and it wasn't January 2010 yet, therefore the new health ins hasn't taken effect. The aggressive treatment required on days 2, 3, or 4 didn't take effect either. I'm somewhat bummed that I have to wait for the next cycle but it's ok, I was able to get the other necessary tests/procedures done.

HSG procedure done on day 10 and results came back normal. It was a brutal experience. It was painful! Went to work afterwards and felt like my insides were going to come out. Had cramps for a few days. My stomach was so painful it felt as if I did a thousand nonstop ab crunches. Then a couple days after I went in for the Glucose tolerance blood work. Geez, drove all the way to the hospital lab only to find out that I had forgotten my work order form. Had to drive all the way back home and get the lab work order form. The drink was super duper SWEET - fruit punch flavor!! Yuck! I just couldn't gulp it all at once. I took small sips and with every swallowed sip of that nasty sweet drink, I felt the urge to throw up each and every time. But the lab tech told me that if I threw up then we would start the test all over again! Hell no! I tried as hard as I could to hold it down. UGHHH, it was awful! Started to feel dizzy so I told the lab people that I needed to lay down and rest. Glucose tolerance test results came back abnormal. I got all excited to get these brutal tests done only to find out that I am pre-diabetic and the reason for infertility, diagnosed with PCOS. Why am I not surprised? Diabetes runs in my family - mama and sisters are diabetics. I just never thought I would have it. Anyway, I needed to visit the FS for the next step of the treatment - medication to regulate menstrual periods, ovulation, and blood sugar.
NOTE: Been using ovulation sticks to detect O and it hasn't happened yet. Bought some more (day 18) to continue testing until detected.

Went to the doctors office following week (day 18). The medical assistant was drawing blood and unsuccessful. After the 4th attempt, it hurts so bad I was screaming. The doc felt bad that she gave me a stbx coffee gift card. Awe, that was so nice of her! Thanks Dr. Chang. And they had to send me to the hospital lab to get the blood work. Waited for almost an hour (when told that it would be only 20-25 min wait) and still not called for blood drawn. At the same time I went to the counter and asked why I haven't been called because people who arrived after me had already had their blood work done. Finally my name was called and they told me that it was based on time sensitivity and the urgency of the blood work order. Anyway, it only took two minutes for my blood work. So much for waiting an hour for only a two minute draw and now my whole morning was gone. I only expected to be gone from work for at least 2 hours the longest but that lead to 3.5 hours!

Waiting for the results. The blood work was needed to rule out if the kidneys and liver were normal. If so then proceed with Metformin, medication to regulate menstrual periods, ovulation, and control blood sugar.

On another note, I got my eyes check. New health insurance and benefits. The optometrist say my prescription hadn't changed that much. She even mentioned that my eyesight is only 10% bad. I asked her if contact lenses were an option and she said no because I don't need to wear my glasses all the time. I only use my glasses for work when I'm in front of a computer and wear at night only. She also gave me a lot of info on how to take care of the eyes. Anyway, went to Binyons and picked out a nice frame - Bebe brand. I was brave enough to switch from the thin frame to the thick half circle frames.

THE NEW YEAR 2010

HAPPY (belated) NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!

The movie was awesome! Booboo enjoyed it a lot. He can't wait for the DVD.

For NYE we didn't do anything. Too old to be going out and drinking. I haven't gone out in years and honestly I don't drink so there's no point of drinking on NYE. We had a very quiet night at home. Just me and booboo. Hubby is out with his buddies playing pool at VaYee's house (the usual).

We went to IKEA today and it was a mad ZOO!! So many people like there's a HUGE sale going on but I didn't see much of a sale any where. I got a few things for booboo. Mostly was there for the food, the LOX (marinated salmon with salad) and swedish meatballs - yummy! The great thing was that kid's ate for free!!!!! While we were there we met Pai's (Luav) family. Her boys were cute as always and very talkative and fluent in Hmong. The first thing they asked was, "Nej tuaj ab tsi nov thiab nab?". That means, "What are you guys doing here too?" hahaha We did the usual - hugs and kisses. As we were shopping, we saw Luav again but this time his facial expression said a lot. He was very worried. He asked if we had seen his middle child (son) and we said no. He said that his son had wandered off and they are looking for him. I started to worry too because there's soooo many people there. Wondering how are they'er going to find that child. So booboo and I helped them look. OMG, my heart started beating fast. I can only imagine if that was my child, I would be scared and worried and mad at the same time. While looking I got a voice mail from Pai that she found her son out by the entrance waiting area. OMG!! I was happy knowing that she had found him. I guessed Luav doesn't know this yet because he was still looking when we crossed paths again. I quickly told him that Pai had found him out in the entrance waiting area and you can definitely see relieved on his face. We saw their family again at the check out stands. The lost child was crying to me and telling me that he got lost and went out to wait for his parents in the waiting area. Thank GOD no one took him. I'm so afraid of the child abductor thing! My heart and world would be shattered if something like that was to happen to my child. I don't even want to think about it. Anyway, just glad that he's ok. What a crazy moment!!

Then headed over to ROSS and bought a few things - table cloth and mats. And I saw a "Leg Magic Exerciser" for $23 and bought it!!! Wow that's a deal. Last year one of my coworker was going to sell hers for $60! I haven't used it yet. I am excited to use it tomorrow. I'll post about it later.

Came home, changed and headed to play volleyball at the rec center. It was fun as always and quite a work out, too. I can not stress how much I enjoy playing volleyball.
